has anybody ever tried suspension on the back? any suggestions for building tips... (like don't??lol)

It would be pretty difficult to put a rear shock setup in place. It would have to be similar to a floater on an MX bike or similar to that on a MTB.
The only thing I have seen with rear suspension is Brett Haddens rig. This was brought in from the US. Cant think of the name of the company.
Ralph Koch at Windchill has built a couple of fold up scooters for people, but nothing with rear suspension. You may find that something like that may tend to "bounce" - think of the reason its used on an MX bike where the rear travel is used to hop over lumps and bumps in the track. Our tracks we run on tend to not have such issues. So, you may be just adding weight unnecessarily.
