Distance races for 2010 ???

From the Poll that was conducted recently there seems to have been some interest in Distance Events. If there is enough interest and there can be a couple of events (2-3) organised - I think we can get this off the ground.

There are a few different options available for Distance events. These can include:
track lengths - these can even vary between heats
number of dogs and changing of dogs
changing of drivers
number of heats
time gap between heats

It is aimed at have a good time with your dogs, looking after your dogs and just enjoying the run.

Just a heads up!

I haven't spoken to the CSDC Committee yet, however I intend holding a Distance race on the sprint race weekend in August.

I think a distance race would be great, but I would seem to think that it should be on a weekend of it's own. If combined with the sprint racing it just eliminates many dogs and people to participate, as you can't really do booth. Just a thought.

The CSDC have done it many times in the past Klaus. Let's face it, people will either train for sprint or distance next year if there is the call for it and will enter whatever race suits them.

However, it makes for a bloody long weekend when you're organising both

So are there any ROC's who want to put a distance race on?

Andrew, the AMCV organises several distance runs during the course of the year. They are casual in nature, mainly for the purpose of excellence titling for the Mals. Having said that, however, they are open to anyone that wants to come along and have some fun. There is a 16klm that is usually run the Saturday and Sunday morning, and a 75klm that is run as - 25klm sat morning, 25klm sat arvo, 25klm sunday morning with a mandatory 10 minute layover at the 1/2 way point of each run. Anyone wanting to run distance is welcome to run with the AMCV. You can find track and date details on the AMCV website http://www.amcv.org.au/. Any size team is welcome. Please note the AMCV does not offer "races" over distance.
